Buckley Jr. Buckley was more than just a political commentator. He was a master of wit, intellect, and unwavering principle. His legacy on firing lanes set the gold standard for civil discourse and rigorous debate.
Often when I write, I think about conservatism, and I think about William F. Buckley, and my inner monologue is his voice, which guides me through a lot of the insights that I come with. These insights are not my own but those made by men of the past whom I remember or find, and I bring them up to get to where I'm going on most topics.
For a bit of fun and tribute, I'll be reading a short piece I've written in Buckley's distinctive voice. My attempt to mimic Buckley is an affectionate caricature. I can't hold a candle to his brilliance, nor shine his shoes. My aim is to get you to seek out the real Buckley, whose episodes of Firing Line are available for free on YouTube.
